Reflecting on everything that is in the media at the moment with Tonga has made me feel this sense of urgency that I just can’t shake.
I really want to get in there and help this little country.
My grandfather was a Nukunuku, this was my name too before I was made Deedee Bancroft. In fact my close friend Sophie still calls me Deedee-Jan Hanuera Nukunuku Bancroft. Since we have been doing this work and looking in to Tonga rentals etc I have found my last name pop up all over the place.
Check this out!
I tell you my heart just about burst when I saw the Nukunuku Family delight awaits… I thought well if this is not the universe telling me I am on the right path then I don’t know what will!
I have grown up a Ngati Porou maori here in little old New Zealand…did we in fact come from Tonga? My Mum has recently had her DNA test done and is 100% Polynesian…so much to consider.
Maybe this is why I felt so strongly to be a part of this when I first heard Don and Kevin speak at the Migrant Centre AGM (which I don’t usually attend I must add but this night I decided I must go). I am glad I went to that meeting as this is not only going to help the different communities we work with but it will also help me. I love this feeling and can’t wait to see how far we go with this! I am thinking the sky is the limit…or maybe even further and the moon is the limit 😊
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
